CrossFit

After being completely entranced by at TV with the CrossFit games on it while trying to watch my friend's acoustic show...I decided to jump in and give CrossFit a try. I found a local gym under construction that is offering free classes while the gym is being worked on, so I really had no excuse not to.

So, Monday, my friend Jenn and I decided to give it a go! Everyone was so welcoming. We were the only two new people, and sometimes there's that cliquish mentality...but I didn't find that at all going to CrossFit. Everyone was there to get a good work out and push themselves no matter what their current fitness level was. There were several trainers there. All of them were so nice and made sure to spend extra time with us to make sure we had the proper form for everything before moving on. The workout itself was pretty killer. I could tell instantly I was going to be feeling it the next day...or several days. My legs felt like wet noodles by the time I got to the part where I was supposed to run. It's hard to run when your legs don't even want to hold you up!

Now it's Wednesday, and I'm still SUPER sore. Luckily my days off are Monday-Wednesday, so I haven't had to do too much! We're signed up for another class on Saturday which is an intro class...so hopefully I'll be recovered by then, and hopefully this next workout won't quite be so killer!

We also bought a groupon for a different CrossFit gym, so I'm committing to at least 12 classes. After that...we'll see!

Juice Fast #2

I haven't been good lately as far as food choices. Ok...lets face it; I haven't been good pretty much ever when it comes to food choices...lol. So, I decided to give the 10 day juice fast another go. Last time I did it, it made unhealthy food seem too salty and it made me crave things flavored with fruits and vegetables (like salsa). Plus, groupon had a deal on a juicer a while back, and I haven't had a change to give it a try. That, and I have a beach vacation coming up ;) though, I'd be doing this even if I didn't.

So, today is day 4, and it has been relatively easy. I've had some hunger pains, but nothing overwhelming. I used an extra serving of fruit in my juices this time around, so the extra calories have probably helped with that. This weekend will be the test though. I have to work 2 double shifts in a row. If I can make it through that, I'll be home free! I decided to keep track of my body composition while on the fast (last time I just did a before and after reading). I'm down 2 lbs of fat, 3.5 lbs of water, and 1 lb of muscle. I'm going to try to do some strength training so I don't lose any more muscle. My only side effect so far is that I'm having trouble sleeping.

Getting Easier :)

The new workout plan is getting much easier! It only takes me about 15 min provided I don't get distracted by shiny things...which lets face it, that happens a lot! Saturday is the color run (can't wait!!! Even though it's going to be like 100 degrees out...eek!), so last night I did a minimal effort 3.1 miles....jog/walk/walk on an incline. I wasn't really pushing it. I was just enjoying my music :) Now that I finally have wireless headphones, I actually like listening to music! I can't wait till it gets nice out again though. I miss running outside...I'm way too much of a baby to brave this kind of heat though...even in the early morning (ha) or night.

I also just got my diploma in the mail! It's so cool to have a document that says yes...you really are done with school. I seriously thought I'd be in school forever...lol. Real job here I come....still counting down to my vacation though...that's more important to me right now...lol.
